Subject: Halton Police Encourage Residents to be Vigilant in Reporting Suspicious Activity
Since August 30th 2012, the Halton Regional Police have investigated several residential home entries in the northeast and northwest areas of Oakville.
In most cases, suspects gain access to the home by kicking in the front door. They then ransack the bedrooms and steal jewellery, cash and small electronics. In some incidents, those involved have opened the rear sliding door to make their escape.
Most entries have occurred between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and witnesses describe seeing a silver, four-door SUV with no tint on the windows in the area of some of the entries.
The driver has been described as male, Eastern European, with very short brown hair and a receding hairline. He is approx. 5’8″ – 5’10″ with a stocky build.
Police believe the driver will drop off one or two other males in the area of where the entry will occur and they will either watch occupants leave the residence or determine if anyone is home by ringing the doorbell or knocking on the door.
Investigators are asking residents to be cognizant of strange vehicles in their area similar to that described and encourage them to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious persons.
